The following instructions are specific to Digital Ocean and are used as an example. Element does not endorse only Digital Ocean and its services. There are several VPS providers available and the following is just one example of how that setup would function. Please note that Digital Ocean can only host up to 10 instances per account.
- Navigate to Digital Ocean and create an account including setting up your payment information.
- Click HERE to deploy Digital Ocean.
- Click the Edit button.
- Click Edit to update the Name (optional) and click the Save button.
- Click Edit to update the Resource Size to the cheapest option and click the Save button.
- Click Back at the bottom of the page.
- Click the Next button.
- Click Edit for the newly named node hosting instance and it's environmental variables.
- In the first Keys text box enter in all caps: NODE_EMAIL

- Wait for the VPS to be deployed. It will say Building… under the Status section.
- Once complete, the status will update to say Deployed Successfully.
- Scroll up and select Runtime Logs from the tabs displayed.
- Within the black text box, you should see: Element configuration complete!
IMPORTANT: 1 Digital Ocean hosting instance can only support up to 100 Lite Nodes or 1 Smart Node.
You will need to complete these steps, starting at Step 3, for each Element Smart Node and one time for each set of 100 Element Lite Nodes.
